High Dose Rate Brachytherapy allows prostate cancer patients to be treated in only 36 hours.
High Dose Rate Brachytherapy is a unique form of radiation treatment, which allows patients to be treated for several types of cancers in very short periods of time, in most cases in as little as 36 hours. Brachytherapy treats cancer by placing radioactive sources directly into or next to the area requiring treatment. This enables clinicians to deliver a high dose with minimal impact on surrounding healthy tissues.
High dose Rate (HDR) Brachytherapy has proven to be a hihgly successful treatment option for cancers of the prostate, cervix, endometrium, breast, skin, bronchus, esophagus and head and neck, as well as soft tissue sarcomas and several other types of cancer.
CIRRO is located in the prestigious Hospital Nacional, and is the only treatment center in the country to offer High Dose Rate Brachytherapy for Cancer patients.
