Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology
Dr Vega was trained at the Social Security Hospital Complex in 1983.
He was the Prenatal Doctor at the Metropolitan Hospital Complex from 1986-1987 and was part of the medical team at Hospital Gorgas with the USA Armed Forces. Since 1992 he has been engaged in private practice and trained in different fields to obtain a second specialty. Furthermore he is Director of the Center of Gynecology and Obstetrics Punta Pacifica.

Specialty in Maternal and Fetal Medicine

He was selected by Dr.Irwin Mekatz, Chairman of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department, Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University for a fellowship (subspecialty) in Maternal and Fetal Medicine. After a year of sub-specialty he was given the title by Dean Dominick Purpura. Academically He was promoted to Assistant Professor of the University by Dean Dominick Purpura in July 1986, and professionally to head High Risk Pregnancies (Chief of High Risk Clinic) in the North Central Bronx Hospital, Montefiori Medical Center

Specialty in Reproductive Medicine

He received 4 years of training at the Colombian Center of Fertility and Sterility (CECOLFES). Actually he is the Medical Director of the Center of Reproduction Punta Pacifica.

He has given and assisted many Reproduction Conferences. The more resent are: 

Advances and Treatment of the Infertile Couple with the participation of Dr. Francisco Risques de Venezuela, November 2007.
American Society for Reproductive Medicine Congress, October 2007
 First Latin-American Workshop in In Vitro Maturation  (IVM) of Oocytes in Panamá with the participation of  Dr. Ri Chen Chiang of McGill University, Canada and Medical Directors of the different  Centers of Reproduction in Latino America October 2006, this workshop was held in the Center of Reproduction Punta Pacifica.
Ultrasound Training

He received training at Yale University with Dr. John Hobbins in NYC New York University and at the Albert Einstein College Of Medicine. Now he is capable performing 4D and 3D structural ultrasounds and his clinics have 2 high resolution 4D ultrasounds: Antares model from Siemens and Accuvix model from Medison.
 
Urogynecology

In 1998 he was trained under the auspices of the Johnson & Johnson in TVT techniques in the Dominican Republic. In February 2000 presenting his first 78 cases on talk shows with this Technique in the Medical Center Paitilla, Panama. As a resident he performed Anterior Colporraphy, Kelly Kennedy, CistoUretropexia, Marshall-Marchetti-Krantz y Burch.  At Gorgas Hospital he received training with Dr. Ramón García de Paredes in CistoUretropexia Pereyra-Raz with the use of a citoscope (1986-1990), after more than 150 cases in 1998 he was the first physician in performing the first TVT technique in Panamá, and have done 250 cases in which he uses a citoscope.  Afterwards he introduced TVT-O, and have performed more than 60 cases, also pelvic floor techniques with mesh Perige y Apoge, Posterior IVS, Anterior IVS and other pelvic floor techniques that the patients require.

Laparoscopy

He was trained in CO2 laser in HCA Center for Research and Education in Nashville, Tennessee, USA. He is a pioneer in laparoscopy operations in Panama. He has taken many courses in laparoscopy, Leep and hysteroscopy in the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology Congresses.

Colposcopy
           
He trained at the Metropolitan Hospital Complex and then at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He has video colposcope and Leep equipment at his clinic.

Cosmetic Gynecology

He received training with Dr. David Matlock in the Laser Institute of America in Vaginal Laser Rejuvenation and Designer Laser Vaginoplasty among other Laser Treatments in August 2007 in Los Angeles, California from the TV show Dr. 90210.

Abdominoplasty

Training in Abdominoplasty for the gynecologist with Dr. Antonio Pelosi II and Marco Antonio Pelosi III in association with the Medicine Academy  in Richmond, VA in October 12-13 2007.
